The International Summer School in Policing Studies (ISSPS) took place from 22-26 June 2026, bringing together doctoral researchers, academics and policing practitioners for an intensive week of learning, discussion and collaboration.
Led through an international partnership involving the Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR), the Centre for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP) at George Mason University, Griffith University and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Evidence-Based Policing (ANZSEBP), the Summer School provided participants with opportunities to explore a wide range of approaches to contemporary policing research.
Across the week, participants engaged with topics including research design, researching with and alongside practitioners, theories in policing research, programme evaluation, and translating research into policy and practice. The programme combined academic learning with practitioner perspectives, practical sessions and opportunities for international networking and knowledge exchange.
SIPR supported PhD researchers from its member universities to participate, helping to strengthen research capacity and build connections between the next generation of policing researchers and the wider international policing research community.
